Invisalign or Braces?

When seeing an orthodontist for treatment, you typically have a couple of options to choose from for treatment. Invisalign and traditional braces are usually what is offered. While each has its own benefits, it may not be clear which is better than the other. This video compares the two and tries to give you information about your specific case.

Braces are made up of wires and metal brackets on your teeth. Invisalign is a clear aligner that is not glued to your teeth as a bracket would be. These aligners tend to look like mouth guards and are similar.

Metal braces tend to restrict what you can eat, as it is easy for food to get stuck in them. Having metal braces also increases the need to brush your teeth. This is because the remnants of food can deteriorate the area around the bracket, which will leave a white spot when the brackets are removed. Metal brackets are also more likely to cause discomfort in your mouth compared to Invisalign aligners.
